Page 10 of the original Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb manual has an illustration of the Forest King and two other Elks. The caption says, "In the Hall of the Elk King," which is correct in the sense that he is the king of Elks, but he considers himself and his line stewards of the Great Forest.
